In accordance with Article X of the new HAU USG Constitution, the HAU USG CSC-SoC convened on July 4, 2024, with all SoC organizations to discuss adherence to the new constitution and the appointment of a new SoC CSO Commissioner. During this meeting, Governor Francisco Olpindo IV requested each organization to present a nominee, with the election scheduled for July 6, 2024, at 8:00 PM. To ensure the integrity of the election proceedings, Mr. Mark Lemuel Furton, the SoC COMELEC Commissioner, was invited to oversee the meeting.
On the evening of July 6, 2024, organization heads, including the Editor-in-Chief of Access Point, HAU USG CSC-SoC, and Mr. Mark Lemuel Furton, convened to witness the election process. The proceedings commenced with the heads of each organization presenting their nominees and providing rationale for their selections. The Cybersecurity Intelligence Alliance (CSIA) and the League of Outstanding Programmers (LOOP) were unable to nominate suitable candidates. However, the Multimedia Aficionados for Interested Artists (MAFIA) put forward their Public Relations Officer, Luis Miguel Frigillana, while Code Geeks (CG) nominated Clarence Lane Parungao, a valued member of their team.
After the presentations, Governor Olpindo facilitated the voting process, observing the 50% + 1 majority rule. All present organizations agreed to proceed with only the two nominees. The election concluded with a 4-1 majority vote in favor of Clarence Lane Parungao from Code Geeks.
In the letter of appointment, Governor Francisco Olpindo IV affirmed, โMs. Clarence Lane Parungao is a good fit for this position as stated by her President, and as I, former Councilor for Academic & Research for CSC-SoC, have also witnessed her excellent work ethic, good communication skills, amazing personality, and advocacy for a positive environment.โ
